Moldavite is known by healers and gem lovers across the world for its unusually powerful energetic properties. The stone of 'green fire', this mercurial substance can accelerate healing in the body, act as a catalyst for positive change in one's life and provide major leaps in awareness.
It strengthens and enhances inner journeys, channeling, cosmic consciousness, crystal consciousness, expansion, contact with interdimensional or extraterrestrial forces. It is a powerful stone, and its energies can at first be intimidating for those experiencing it for the first time.
Moldavite can bring issues to the surface to be transformed, thus it is known as a "stone of transformation."
Moldavite has been said to raise the vibrational level of both the human race and the Earth.
Moldavite is classified as a tektite. Tektites are glass stones created by the impact of large meteorites on Earth’s surface. When a meteorite of sufficient size, enters earth’s atmosphere, the force of the impact causes a melting of terrestrial earth, which fuses with the meteorite material. This molten substance then re-enters the upper atmosphere, and falls again to earth in the form of rather small, molten, aerodynamic shaped stones.
Tektites are only found in four strewnfields (dispersion areas) on our planet. Of these four sources of tektites, Moldavite is the most highly prized, because of its unique texture, translucent green color and fascinating shapes. No other substance caused by an extraterrestrial event, can be faceted, polished, and has the classification of a gemstone. These rare and unique stones can only be found in the Czech Republic.
The largest occurrence of Moldavite (and highest quality of gem-grade) is in the sub-strewnfield of Southern Bohemia, Czech Republic. There are two types of deposits: Alluvial and original strewnfield. Alluvial deposits are caused by the stones being carried to their resting place by shifts in sediments and water currents over millions of years. Alluvial deposits are much less rich in density per cubic meter. The other type of find, are localities where the stones lie more or less where they fell. These are classified as original strewnfields. They have a much higher density of Moldavite per cubic meter.
